SAN FRANCISCO – Actor Henry Cavill, who’s currently preparing to become the new Superman and Clark Kent in director Zack Snyder’s Superman: Man of Steel, was on hand at his first convention to promote the 3D action movie, Immortals. At WonderCon 2011, the actor took the stage with co-stars Kellan Lutz, Isabel Lucas, and Luke Evans to showcase new footage of director Tarsem Singh’s epic Greek mythology tale. Cavill took some time after the panel to talk about his addiction to World of Warcraft: Cataclysm and his love of video games in this exclusive video interview.

Visionary director Tarsem Singh (The Cell) and producers Gianni Nunnari (300), Mark Canton (300) and Ryan Kavanaugh (The Fighter) unleash an epic tale of treachery, vengeance and destiny in Immortals, a stylish and spectacular 3-D adventure. As a power-mad king razes ancient Greece in search of a legendary weapon, a heroic young villager rises up against him in a thrilling quest as timeless as it is powerful.

The brutal and bloodthirsty King Hyperion (Mickey Rourke) and his murderous Heraklion army are rampaging across Greece in search of the long lost Bow of Epirus. With the invincible Bow, the king will be able to overthrow the Gods of Olympus and become the undisputed master of his world. With ruthless efficiency, Hyperion and his legions destroy everything in their wake, and it seems nothing will stop the evil king’s mission.

As village after village is obliterated, a stonemason named Theseus (Henry Cavill) vows to avenge the death of his mother in one of Hyperion’s raids. When Theseus meets the Sybelline Oracle, Phaedra (Freida Pinto), her disturbing visions of the young man’s future convince her that he is the key to stopping the destruction. With her help, Theseus assembles a small band of followers and embraces his destiny in a final desperate battle for the future of humanity.

Next up for Cavill is the iconic role of Superman in the December 2012 movie from Warner Bros. Amy Adams will play Lois Lane, Kevin Costner will play Jonathan Kent and Diane Lane will play Martha Kent. The film will be directed by Zack Snyder, who most recently released Sucker Punch.

“In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time, and I am honored to be a part of his return to the big screen,” said Snyder. “I also join Warner Bros., Legendary and the producers in saying how excited we are about the casting of Henry. He is the perfect choice to don the cape and S shield.”

Charles Roven, Emma Thomas, Christopher Nolan and Deborah Snyder are the producers of the film. The screenplay is being written by David S. Goyer based on a story by Goyer and Nolan. Thomas Tull and Lloyd Phillips are serving as executive producers.
